Balranald Motorcycle Club History
Formed in 1997 by a group of local enthusiasts, Balranald Motorcycle Club aimed to establish a motocross track in the small town of Balranald, south-west NSW. The local council granted them a site 4km from the town, where they built what is now regarded as one of the nation's finest country tracks.
The club has hosted regular events, including 2-day open events and state regional titles, attracting up to 80 riders along with numerous crew members and spectators. It gained recognition with several local riders achieving national prominence, such as Ben Potter (three-time national #3) and Nathan Potter (Victorian #1), both also ranking #1 in the Northern Region in their classes. Other notable riders include Nathan Purtill, Jack McMahn, and Todd Jarrat, all highly ranked regionally.
After a period of diminished activity when the original generation of riders moved on, the club experienced a hiatus of about three years. However, in 2015, a new wave of riders reinvigorated the club, leading to the resumption of racing in 2016. The club's membership has since grown to over 150.
